Jack is an author and outdoor swimmer who grew up in the English Lake District. Now, he lives in Bondi, Sydney - a short walk from the ‘world’s most photographed pool’ (Icebergs).

You can find Jack’s writing in The Telegraph, Vogue, Escape Magazine, Shackleton, Red Bull, Another Escape, Swim Magazine, and Outdoor Swimmer. He has appeared on Sky News, BBC Radio Scotland and joined talks and led swims at the Outdoor Living Expo, as well as Love Trails, Wilderness and Obonjan festivals.

His first book Swim Wild was published by Yellow Kite Books in April, 2018. It followed world-first swims with his two brothers - the Wild Swimming Brothers - including a 9-day navigation of Cumbria’s 90-mile River Eden and crossings of two Norwegian maelstroms.

Jack’s next book, Cold Water, was due to be published by Unbound before the publisher collapsed. The family travelogue dives into cold water therapy and the psychology of ice swimmers. While Jack and his brother, Calum, train for a 4C Ice Kilometre and Ice Mile. It is now finding a new home as Jack also finishes his third book, set in the surfside city of Sydney, which has the world’s highest density of saltwater sea pools.

For his day job, Jack is a marketing consultant and content manager, working at SwimTrek and Ocean Swim Safaris.

In Cold Water, we join a shuddering journey from London’s pandemic-stricken lidos to Iceland’s geothermal rivers and 2-degree bays. This book also delves into the science and psychology of ice swimming, alongside meetings with veteran swimmers (Colin Hill, Pedro Ordenes, Anna-Carin Nordin…).
